Glide and fly on sites of all levels

Photo passenger paragliding experience

Air Sports Chamonix has been offering speed-riding courses and training programs since its creation.
Whether you are a beginner or in the progression phase, instruction is provided by a specialized instructor on sites adapted to the group’s level.

• Private commitment courses only
• Pre-formed groups – maximum 4 people
• Supervision by experienced instructors

Speed riding is a discipline in its own right, combining skiing and a mini-wing, allowing pilots to move through the mountains by alternating ski gliding and flight phases. Playful, intense, and demanding, it requires precision, control, and commitment.

Course organization

Courses are offered by private booking only, for pre-formed groups.
This format ensures consistent progression, better level management, and smooth practice on smaller sites without overcrowding.

Groups are limited to 1 to 4 pilots.
Instruction is limited to a maximum of 3 consecutive days, as the activity is physically demanding.

Type of practice

Courses are exclusively dedicated to speed riding:

  • gliding under canopy,
  • technical handling on snow,
  • aero-towed gliding depending on conditions.

This is neither speed flying nor long aerial runs.
Practice takes place on secured terrain, adapted to prerequisites and snow conditions.

Training content

  • The training focuses in particular on:
  • straight-line control and low-speed management,
  • emergency stopping,
  • exploring the speed range and terrain,
  • turns (festoons, wide curves, low-speed turns),
  • dynamic and gravity-assisted takeoffs,
  • canopy control and inflation in strong wind,
  • aero-towed gliding.

Progression is achieved by changing sectors according to skill level and weather conditions.

Typical day schedule

  • morning meeting around 9:00 am,
  • administrative check-in and safety briefing,
  • equipment preparation and familiarization,
  • supervised runs throughout the day,
  • midday break on site,
  • final runs, debrief, and equipment packing.

The program may change depending on weather and wind conditions.

Prerequisites and equipment

  • Strong all-terrain skiing skills required
  • Committed and physically demanding activity
  • Personal ski helmet recommended
  • Speed-riding wings provided, subject to availability

Pricing (per person)

  • €480: 1 pilot
  • €280: 2 pilots
  • €250: 3 pilots
  • €220: 4 pilots
